Comic Creator Cabal - Making Fine Comics Since 2008

Check out photos from Wizard World Chicago Comic Con 2008!

As promised, we've posted a metric crap-ton of photos from Wizard World: Chicago 2008!

We met a lot of pretty righteous folk at the convention, many of whom were kind enough to pose for a photo. An impressive array of costumes were on display, so we got a little camera happy with the cosplayers, too.

And who can resist the chance to provide photographic evidence to the doubters that the convention is attended by a whole bevy of attractive female comic fans?

Check out the photo galleries (requires flash):

Wizard World Chicago

The Comic Creator Cabal would like to thank everyone at Wizard World Chicago for making our first convention appearance an absolute blast!

We are grateful for the opportunity to make so many new friends, meet some really cool comic professionals and indie artists, and preach the C3 gospel to the folks browsing the Artist Alley.

Our first experience rocking a booth at a convention was pretty darn successful. We got our first book, Emergent Phenomena, in the hands of a ton of comic fans. We can't tell you how gratifying it felt to receive such attention and enthusiasm, and to have folks return to our booth later, to tell us they enjoyed our stories or just to hang out.

You guys also kept our artists - Dan, John and Aaron - busy cranking out sketches all weekend. Dan even drew a custom pinup for WWE Wrestling Superstar Al Snow!

We'd like to send some digital love to:

  • our new friends at General Jack Cosmo Productions [link];
  • The Damned writer Cullen Bunn [link];
  • Werewolves: Call of the Wild writer Mike Oliveri [link];
  • The Boy Who Made Silence writer/artist Joshua Hagler [link];
  • Grandma Kelly for putting a bunch of us up for the weekend;
  • Comic Book Resources photographer Pinguino Kolb [link];
  • ComicMix [link] for podcasting us;
  • Caelyn Nagle [link] for video documenting us;
  • Casey, for saying really nice stuff about us on her blog [link].

Comic Creator Cabal presents Emergent Phenomena

We're the Comic Creator Cabal - or C3 - a group of sequential art lovers based out of Shiloh, Illinois (very near St. Louis, MO). We first met in the game room of a local comic shop back in December 2007, a bunch of guys who thought it would be awesome to try and make comics. Here it is June 2008, and we have finished our first book.

The Comic Creator Cabal presents our debut work, "Emergent Phenomena", a 62 page, black & white trade paperback anthology collecting 6 stories: "Loop & Hoodie", "Percy the Nazi Killer", "Morningstar", "Bruder", "Writer's Block" and "Path of the Black Hand". Suggested for mature readers.

C3 FEATURED ON
DEVIANT ART

06.21.2008
The C3 was spotlighted on popular online art community Deviant Art! Page 5 of "Loop & Hoodie" received a Daily Deviation, meaning it was featured on the DA homepage for a day as a representation of the Comics & Cartoons category. "MissKittyoooo", the category director, had this say: "Loop and Hoodie Page 5 by ComicCreatorCabal is a great looking comic page with smooth and clean inks. The expressions are great and the characters are very easy on the eyes."
Check it out here.

BOOKS HAVE ARRIVED!

06.18.2008
The first 150 copies of "Emergent Phenomena" arrived at our door today, delivered from the print shop, Ka-Blam. They look great - high gloss, full color covers and sharp, high-contrast black & white interiors. In our humble opinion, they look pretty darn sharp for a first effort. You'll have to check 'em out for yourselves!
